چکیده

To increase the oil production for the Tordis subsea oilfield located at the Norwegian Continental Shelf, a subsea separation and boosting station will be installed. Most of the water will be injected into a subsea reservoir instead of being transported up to the platform. Several challenges conserning process control need to be addressed before the implementation process, and dynamic simulations have therefore been performed in order to develop and test different control strategies to deal with these challenges. The results from some of these simulations will be presented in this paper. Copyright c © 2006 IFAC

Dynamic study of a subsea processing system

This paper describes the simulation setup applied in an introductory study in connection with implementation of subsea processing equipment at an already operating gas and oil field. The primary aim of the subsea processing equipment is to increase the oil recovery, but it is also considered as an important technological step forward. A subsea separation and boosting station is planned installe...

Implementation and Long-step Sensorless Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (pmsm) for Subsea Applications

By design, the operation of a large 3MW permanent magnet motor-driven pump system has the potential to improve system efficiency and reliability to lower operator costs. Subsea electrical system design and motor performance must be predictable and validated prior to deployment. Critical elements of this system include successful remote start-up and step up–step down transformers. A number of di...

Comparison of Multiphase Pumping Technologies for Subsea and Downhole Applications

The selection criteria for multiphase boosting options remain somewhat subjective and are frequently influenced by the vendors’ data, which may mask potential limitations of this emerging technology. Existing literature on multiphase pumping tends to focus on a certain pump type for a specific field application, but does not provide more-generalized criteria for the selection of multiphase boos...

Adaptive modeling of methane hydrates

We consider a computational model for the evolution of methane hydrates in subsurface. Methane hydrates, an ice-like compound abundant in subsea sediments and unstable in standard conditions, are an environmental hazard and simultaneously an energy source. Our multiphysics model includes multiphase multicomponent mass conservation equations and several variants of energy balance equation with o...

The Indication of Two-Phase Flow Pattern and Slug Characteristics in a Pipeline Using CFD Method

Multiphase flows are commonly encountered in oil and gas industries. The transport of multiphase flow causes the formation of slug, the increase of pressure drop and the possibility of phase changes therefore, a set of simulation runs was performed to predict flow regimes in a horizontal pipeline, and the results were compared with the Baker chart. The effects of small downward inclinations of ...
